Notable new numbers for outdoorsfolk, from 51 to 47.3 million
Total population of breeding ducks in the traditional areas surveyed this year by the Canadian Wildlife Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The number is slightly lower than last year, but 34 per cent above the 1955 to 2016 long-term average.

Woodland caribou ranges across Canada. In July, Ottawa unveiled its proposed Action Plan for the Woodland Caribou, noting that 37 of the ranges are not self-sustaining, requiring habitat restoration and population management, such as predator control.
