Bad Taxidermy

Call me crazy—many have—but I’ve got a thing for bad taxidermy. While I appreciate a finely-crafted, realistic piece of animal art as much as does the next outdoorsman or woman, there’s just something about cobbled-together, zipper-suited monstrosities that really catch my eye, especially around this time of year.

Thus, I was excited to recently come across a group page on Facebook dedicated to badly stuffed animals. While some of the featured pieces are just plain hokey and others look like animal extras from The Walking Dead, they’re all amazing in their own way.

If you’re planning to get a mount made of your quarry this season, you might want to show the page to your taxidermist as a reference for what not to do. Or, if you’re going for the popular zombie look, it’s also a great source for ideas!

Here’s a couple of other examples to give you an idea of the kind of quality we’re talking about.
