Hola Dorado

… unless Murphy’s Law of angling strikes, as it did repeatedly on my first day. In my boat we hooked but quickly lost three roosters due to a combination of tackle malfunctions, communication miscues and the circle-hook learning curve. However, we did get into some beautiful dorado (aka mahi-mahi, aka dolphinfish). This 20-pounder jumped three times, and took 15 sweaty minutes to land. FYI, the blood is from a gaff—dorado are plentiful, fast-growing and excellent eating, so this one went on ice.
