Kudos to one of Outdoor Canada’s promotional partners, the World Fishing Network, for adopting a green motif and promoting environmental awareness in conjunction with Earth Day Canada on April 22.

For the week of April 20 to 26, the 24-hour fishing channel will sport a green logo while reinforcing what it refers to as the three Rs of environmental stewardship: react (“by acknowledging that your actions impact the environment”); replenish (“and restock fisheries and clean up your waterways ensuring that future generations can enjoy our planet”); and release (“by embracing the catch-and-release mentality”).

Through on-air and online programming, WFN will devote the entire week to environmentally themed content. In a press release announcing the initiative, WFN president Mark Rubinstein said:

“The feedback from viewers towards our green campaign last year was overwhelmingly positive so it made sense to expand the initiative this year. Anglers are among the most environmentally conscious citizens on our planet, so it’s appropriate for us to use the occasion of Earth Day to focus upon a belief system that millions of anglers live by every day. By using our platform to communicate this message we hope to help even more anglers learn the consequences of their actions and what they can do to give back to the planet.”
