After a 10-year hiatus from covering the Bassmaster Classic or attending the National Conservation Summit that occurs at the same time, Canadian Angler Hall of Famer Wil Wegman (above, left) returned to attend both events in early March 2020. In this exclusive report, the Bradford, Ontario, writer and Aurora Bassmaster member shares some highlights of the event, and provides an insider’s account of what it was like to hit the water with pro angler Jeff Gustafson (above, right). Best known as Gussy, Gustafson was one of the three Canadians competing in what’s commonly referred to as the Superbowl of bass fishing, which took place from March 6 to 8 on Lake Guntersville in Birmingham, Alabama.
