Numerous pack accessories are available, but you’ll need to decide for yourself which ones are important or which just add unwanted weight. Such accessories include built-in hydration systems (I’m not a fan, but others swear by them), compression straps for tightening and evening out your load, and the likes of D-rings for attaching gear to the outside of your pack. One feature I particularly like is a dedicated accessory designed for carrying your rifle or bow when you want both hands free for other duties—like glassing for that big buck you hope to eventually pack out.
