Anniversary this year of Maxima, maker of the like-named brand of popular fishing line. Founded by Max Gottlieb Meinel in Markneukirchen, Germany, the company initially produced strings for musical instruments and tennis rackets before focussing solely on fishing line starting in the early 1950s.
