With Father’s Day almost here, and the peak summer fishing just behind it—not to mention hunting season—check out these goodies for outdoor dads.

Traditional raingear uses a Gore-Tex-type membrane, blanketed with an interior waterproof membrane that don’t allow for air flow, and water-repellent coating that degrades over time. With Columbia Sportswear’s OutDry Extreme fabric, the rugged exterior is an incredibly water-tight membrane with millions of microscopic perforations that let water vapor escape through a wicking membrane directly fused to the shell.

Part of the Titanium line, this waterproof shell is fully seam-sealed, with two-way underarm venting, and numerous zippered pockets. The pants have articulated knees, external seam taping and a bevvy of zippered pockets. OC associate editor Scott Gardner (below) has been using this combo for a year, and says it’s the best rainwear he’s ever worn, and the material blows away Gore-Tex.
