All brook trout anglers dream of fish that will put a big bend in their fishing rods, and the excitement is probably never higher than on opening day. However, things do not always go as planned. For example, I’ll never forget an early-season trip many years ago when I got schooled by my late friend Jacques Laforest (above), who was an expert brook trout angler with 60 years of experience.
