#3 GO SLOWLY

Since brook trout are in a state of torpor for much of the winter, with their metabolism slowed down, they’re not particularly aggressive once the early season arrives. Even though they might be very hungry, they won’t move quickly to go after a meal. That means you must retrieve your lures slowly, or go slow if you’re trolling. Avoid lures that sink quickly, which makes them unsuitable for fishing at low speeds or in shallow water.
