ATTITUDE
Whatever your style, how you carry yourself matters more. Coolness isn’t being aloof or snooty. Internal cool is more about being calm, self-contained and emotionally steady. That means maintaining a relaxed, unhurried demeanour, enjoying your surroundings and letting yourself get absorbed in the moment—a win-win, since that typically makes you a better angler, too.
Coolness also means reacting to a catch with quiet satisfaction rather than a touchdown dance. And when you miss a fish, you don’t emote like a Real Housewife. Instead, cool anglers shrug, smile and cast again. They’re also helpful to newcomers, but not overbearing. And they never act like they’re better than the anglers around them—even if they clearly are. Seeking praise is deeply uncool.
