How deep does the fishing culture run at the Lodge? Put it this way: Even the chef is a spey caster. After a second fishless day on the Gold, for my third and final day, Randy and I did a day-long float down the Salmon River. This was only possible because chef Terry (right) came along in a second vehicle, which we parked at the pull-out location. Even better, so I could have the true Vancouver Island experience, it rained all day. But that’s why the gods of fishing gave us Gore-Tex.
