Teaching apprentice hunters to properly retrieve, clean, package and cook wild game is just as important as the hunt itself. One of my proudest mentoring moments was watching my eldest daughter pluck, eviscerate, wash and prepare her first duck for the roaster. After seasoning and baking the bird, it was a defining moment in her young life to see us sit down as a family and enjoy the delectable meal she had provided.
