Blue Fish Radio: Bass Nation’s award-winning Pledge to Pitch conservation program

Outdoor Canada is pleased to present Blue Fish Radio—podcasts about the future of fish and fishing in Canada. The program, produced and hosted by Lawrence Gunther, is dedicated to sharing first-hand angling knowledge, scientific discoveries and supporting local champions who protect and enhance their waters.

Jason Barnucz (above), research biologist and conservation director for the Ontario Bass Nation, speaks with Blue Fish Radio about the highly successful Pledge to Pitch program for the sustainable disposal of used fishing tackle. Last year Barnucz challenged the over 700 members of the Ontario Bass Nation to “Pledge to Pitch” by correctly disposing of their soft plastic fishing lures. As a result of this initiative, the organization has been recognized with several conservation awards.
