In addition to lightening up, use a subtle non-slip loop knot to connect your bait or lure. A snap (not a snap swivel) is almost as good, but a loop knot provides better action and it’s less intrusive. The three loop knots I rely on are the Rapala knot and the double and triple surgeon’s knots. Look them up online, learn to tie at least one well, and your catch rate will soar.
