Our hosts transported us to a replica Mayan Temple—a unique stone structure built for entertaining ranch guests. As we made our way down a narrow stone corridor, through a courtyard, and finally past the large wooden temple doors, a pig on a spit greeted us. Often, it’s the food that gives me a connection to a place, and this night was no different. The warm fall evening was filled with delicious Tex-Mex food, live music, and new friends chatting about the day’s adventures on the trails.
