WOLVERINES

Canada’s largest member of the weasel family, wolverines are renowned for being fearless and cunning predators. And there are few trophy room displays that surpass the beauty of a luxurious and stunningly patterned wolverine rug or full-body mount. Wolverines can be hunted across the three territories, where many hunters pursuing other game stuff a wolverine tag in their pack just in case of an encounter.

Those specifically hunting wolverines, however, must be prepared to spend long days travelling remote country, glassing hillsides and rocky crags hoping to spot a wolverine on the move. Then it’s a case of stalking to within shooting range, trying to remain concealed lest this furtive, wary animal spots you before you’re in position. If a wolverine does see you, most often it will run hell-bent for cover and disappear in seconds—even in what appears to be an open landscape. Tag out on a wolverine, though, and you’ve got yourself a trophy to be justly proud of, standing testament to your patience and stamina.
