These 3 rod-and-reel combos will catch almost any fish in Canada

#2  THE HEAVY HITTER

At the other end of the spectrum is a 7′ 2″ to 7′ 4″ medium-heavy-action rod and a 3000 series reel loaded with 10- to 17-pound gel-spun line, which I rely on to cast 3/8- to one-ounce jigs and swimbaits. I’ve caught more double-digit walleye with this outfit than all others combined. And when a trophy bass, pike or lake trout eats the bait—whether it was intended for a walleye or not—I can drive home the long-shank hook to tame even the wildest beast. If I had to enlist a spinning rod for largemouth duty, meanwhile, I would have no worries using this combo to cast a Texas-rigged worm along a weedline.
