Black carp

BLACK CARP

Capable of growing as long as six feet and weighing up to 200 pounds, black carp feed mostly on zooplankton, insect larvae and detritus when they’re young, then primarily mollusks as adults. Elongated with a pointed head and a small toothless mouth, black carp are mostly brown to black, but bluish-grey to white on the belly; the large, overlapping scales appear cross-hatched.
