TEST RESULTS: UBERTI SCOUT RIMFIRE AND VORTEX DIAMONDBACK SCOPE

Both the Uberti Scout lever-action .22 and Vortex Diamondback 2-7×35 scope outperformed my expectations. With its postal scale weight of six pounds four ounces, the rifle was quick and nimble, and it cycled perfectly with a variety of different ammunition. The scope, meanwhile, offered optical quality and function, making it an ideal match for the Scout. It was precisely what I was looking for—a rimfire scope that wouldn’t distract from the visual appeal of the Scout, yet would still provide the precision needed to get the best out of the rifle.

For my test, I included ammo ranging from low-cost plinking rounds to high-end target cartridges. All 14 groups collectively averaged 0.620, with four of them bettering a half inch. For sheer plinking fun, consider Eley Action. For small-game hunting, meanwhile, either Eley High Velocity Hollow or Winchester Super-X Plated RN would be excellent choices. All three offerings shot into less than a half inch. The Scout not only delivered on its Old West styling, it was also a blast to shoot.
