OC Getaways: Hefty trout at Silent Lake Provincial Park

OC Getaways: Silent Lake Provincial Park

Chasing early-season lakers from yurt and canoe

With Ontario’s summer camping season in full swing, this is a great time to share a few shots from a trip earlier this year to Silent Lake Provincial Park, near Bancroft, Ontario.

A near-north gem

I’m a huge fan of Ontario’s Provincial Park system, and Silent Lake is a longtime fave. There’s no development on the lake other than the 170-site park, and motor boats are prohibited, so it truly is silent, and about as close as you can get to a backcountry experience while still taking a shower.
