To me, Panoptix is most powerful as a fish-catching tool when used along with either traditional or side-scan sonar, as a way to get a fuller view of what’s going on below and around you. Side-scan can give you a view of cover and structure, while Panoptix shows exactly where you bait is and, crucially, how fish are reacting to it. For example, if you see a fish follow your crankbait in real time, but not commit, you can vary your retrieve or try a jig or worm.
