#3 Fish with a Good Guide
I was extremely fortunate to spend three days with Randy Killoran (above), one of Vancouver Island’s best-known and most successful guides. Randy’s specialties are fly fishing rivers, and rowing folks for giant salmon during the venerable Tyee Club’s annual tournament in Campbell River. Randy had everything a great guide should possess: patience, deep knowledge of the fishery, good coaching instincts, love of the outdoors and a positive attitude in the face of adversity, which was especially welcome as our fishless hours ticked by.
