Together, southeastern Alberta’s native sharp-tailed grouse and introduced Hungarian partridge offer a rewarding and challenging hunt. The partridge prefer abandoned farmsteads near cultivated fields, while the grouse inhabit nearby native shrub and grassland complexes. A 20-gauge is ideal, with #6 shot for grouse and #8 for partridge. The Alberta Professional Outfitters Society can help with a guide.
