Getting started is not as difficult as you may think. There’s even a good chance you may already have some of the main equipment and materials on hand: an outdoor propane burner with a barbecue-sized propane tank; a large cooking pot; a pressure washer; a large bucket; and industrial hydrogen peroxide.
Controlling the odour is the first key step, especially if you have nearby neighbours. After field dressing the animal and removing the hide, spend the extra time to also strip the hide from the skull and lower jaw. Do this when the skull is fresh. If it’s too warm outside, avoid the decaying process by placing the skull in a deep freezer until you are ready to start.
