Funds earmarked for Ottawa’s firearms buyback program, designed to compensate gun owners who surrender their recently banned “assault-style” rifles. Those who don’t comply with the scheme by March 31 will not receive compensation. So far, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick and the Yukon have stated they will not participate in the program.
