#2 ORGANIZATION

Ford says it’s crucial to keep your tackle and gear clean, dry and organized in your boat. “There’s nothing worse than losing time trying to find something because everything is a mess,” he says. “Pros are so effective because everything is where we want it.” He recommends organizing tackle trays by technique, with one tray for flipping jigs, one for jerkbaits, and so on. Ford also pares each collection down to just two or three different colours or patterns. “If I fish the lure effectively, I can make the fish bite it,” he says. “That comes with experience and confidence.”
