Most anglers fish too slowly and stay on the same spot too long, Ford says. It’s better to use search baits, such as topwater frogs in vegetation and squarebill crankbaits in open water. The key is to cover water quickly and effectively to find aggressive fish. “The more targets I can hit, the more chances I have to put my lure in front of a fish that’s going to react to it.”
