Wild pigs provide a year-round hunting opportunity

Wild pigs are a non-native, invasive species that damage crops and destroy wildlife habitat. Voracious omnivores, pigs will eat anything they can find. Hunting is one of the ways wildlife managers can control wild boar. In some areas, such as California, wild pigs are managed as game animals, although that is changing next year (in 2019). It’s a thrill to hunt wild boar and they are excellent to eat. You can get bacon, pork chops, ham and sausage all from one animal. Yum! This is the pig I harvested in central California.
