Compact, lightweight, waterproof and durable, Soundcast’s VG1 is a versatile speaker designed with ultimate portability in mind. Since it can reportedly be submerged in up to ten feet of water, it could certainly handle some rain in the field or boat spray on the water. Meanwhile, the rubber coating and caps over the ports protect it against dust, dirt and sand. It has a Bluetooth range of up to 30 feet and the built-in rechargeable battery powers the unit for up to 15 hours of playback. Outdoor Canada managing editor Bob Sexton brought the VG1 on a recent fishing trip and everyone at camp was surprised and impressed by how rich, balanced and loud the sound was, coming from such a miniature speaker.
