LAKE ATHABASCA

For sheer numbers of huge lake trout, nothing compares with Lake Athabasca. On my last trip to the massive lake shared by Alberta and Saskatchewan, the bite was so good I didn’t even keep track of the catches under 30 pounds. Trolling with big Bondy Baits and flashy Williams Whitefish spoons tipped with white grubs accounted for most of the giants. There are several reputable lodges on the lake, including Lakers Unlimited.
