4th annual photo contest: The winners

These days, it seems almost everyone documents at least some aspect of their life online. All you need is a cellphone, after all, to capture everything from birthday parties to a baby’s first steps, then share it with friends through the likes of Facebook. But many of the digital photos we take on a daily basis are quickly forgotten on memory cards, never to be seen again. So it’s always a pleasure to peruse photos that folks take pride in sharing, like the images submitted to our annual photo contest.

This year, we received more than 2,000 entries, giving us a welcome glimpse into the rich and varied outdoor lives you live. As always, it was a tough job to pick the winners and honourable mentions, but in the end, these are the shots that prevailed. We look forward to an even harder job next year, so keep on enjoying the outdoors—and taking photos of your adventures.
