#5 BONDED BULLETS

Bonded bullets are essentially cup-and-core bullets that have had the inner lead and outer copper jacket melded together at the molecular level. The lead cannot break free from the jacket, so the retained weight of the bullet remains high on impact for greater penetration than a similar cup-and-core bullet. Bone and other tissue, however, can eroded the lead and jacket, so weight retention is variable. Popular bonded bullets include Remington’s Core-Lokt Ultra, Federal’s Fusion, Hornady’s InterBond, Nosler’s AccuBond (above) and Winchester’s Power Max.
