TOOL LANYARDS

I don’t know how you can misplace full-size pliers in a boat, let alone in your tackle bag, but it happens—and usually when you’ve got a fish in one hand. Using a sturdy, key chain-sized split ring, I now keep my pliers fastened to a coiled plastic lanyard that’s attached to the handle of my tackle bag with a carabiner. That way, I always know where to find the pliers, and they’re easy to remove. The set-up also works well with scissors and jaw spreaders. As a bonus, the split ring is perfect for securely holding hooks when tightening your knots.
