Made-in-Quebec Pelican boats are widely available at many retailers across Canada, including big-box outlets. Pelican boats use two-piece thermoformed hulls, which make them light and quite inexpensive, but they still perform surprisingly well (as I found in 2017). Although sit-in kayaks like the Argo are generally less favoured by anglers, they’re significantly lighter than sit-on-top models, and offer better protection against wind and water, which can be attractive in cold Canadian lakes and rivers. Features include a padded backrest and seat cushion, molded-in cockpit organizer, two hatches, a rear tankwell with mesh cover and five rod holders.
