COLLECTOR’S CORNER

The lightweight Damara rifle was made by Ed Brown Products from 2004 to 2010. This particular model is a 7mm-08 made on the 702 short action. Manufactured in 2006, it is in 98 to 99 per cent of its condition. Ed Brown is principally known for high-grade 1911-style pistols, but for a few years he also got into rifle production.

The actions were entirely machined and finished in-house, fitted with match-grade barrels and stocked with lightweight McMillan graphite stocks. They were made to very high standards of fit and finish, and were invariably very accurate.

Ed Brown suspended all rifle production in 2010 to focus on his handgun line. Production numbers were never very high, so Ed Brown rifles are now in demand both as collectibles and as practical sporting rifles. When the Damara was discontinued in 2010, the suggested retail price was US$3,995. At a Canadian firearms auction, I’d expect this rifle to bring $2,500 to $3,000.
