Lubricate exposed nuts or bolts to keep them from rusting. Compound crossbow axles and wheels should also be lubricated to ensure they move and rotate smoothly. Check all bolts with your fingers, as a loose bolt can cause string problems or even catastrophic failure. Most bolts are installed with thread-locking fluid, such as Loctite, and rarely need tightening, but if they do, check the manufacturer’s recommendations for torque and the use of Loctite.
