Trout treat: Late-season fly fishing in southern Ontario

As the sun started to break through the clouds on a brisk fall afternoon, managing editor Bob Sexton and I took to the Franklin’s main lake in one of the club’s punt-style rowboats. In less than 15 minutes, I connected with a rainbow (above), using a 6-weight outfit, and floating line, with a sinking leader to get my streamer fly down about six feet.
