#16 WEIMARANER
Also known as the “grey ghost” for its pale colouring, the Weimaraner is a talented upland bird hunter and all-around great family dog. Its history begins in the 1800s in Germany, where it was originally developed as a big-game hunting dog for the likes of bears, wild boars and deer. As Europe’s larger game populations began to dwindle, however, the breed slowly evolved to become a bird pointer and retriever. Weinmaraners first arrived in North America in the late 1920s.
